    This position will have the knowledge of the ACI, ASTM, AASHTO, and state DOT standard test procedures and be able to carry out basic laboratory testing procedures on soils, asphalt, aggregates, concrete, grout, mortar, and masonry.


    The tasks may be required to perform may include, but are not limited to:

    • Performing basic laboratory tests on soil, concrete, and asphalt and preparing reports of results.
    • Timely reporting of test results to Lab manager and staff
    • Communicating with clients, contractors, and engineering and technician staff regarding construction issues in a professional manner both in writing and conversation.


    • High School Diploma or equivalent is required; Bachelor's degree in Geology or similar field preferred.
    • ACI Level I Concrete, state DOT, or ICC certifications in soils, structural masonry, and/or pre-stressed concrete.
    • ACI concrete sampling certifications are highly desirable.
    • 1 year previous experience is highly desired.
    • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
    • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to perform basic mathematical formulas and concepts to calculate quantities, estimate volumes, inspect constructed work, make recommendations in the field and to perform calculations for field and laboratory tests and equipment.
    • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 70 lbs on a continual basis in all weather conditions.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills both oral and written.
    • Must be able to successfully manage numerous assignments and meet deadlines
    • Must be able to work independently and within teams to achieve goals.
    • Must be detail oriented.
    • Must be willing to participate in and pass F&R’s pre-employment screening including a background. investigation, drug screening and driving record.

    • Requires a valid, clean driver’s license, as travel to job sites is required.

    • Must continue to maintain a safe driving record and valid driver’s license to fulfill travel requirements of this positon.
