    Who we are looking for:

     

    F&R is looking for a Special Inspector. In this position you will perform complex field testing and inspection of construction materials in order to verify conformance to construction plans and specifications.

    Responsibilities

    What you’ll be doing:


    Including but not limited to:

    • Observation, monitoring and testing for compliance with plans and specifications
    • Read plans and specifications with inspection duties and requirements
    • Maintaining current knowledge of the local State building codes, ASTM standards, ACI standards and AWS standards
    • Maintaining current knowledge of the principles and terminology in the Construction Inspection Industry.
    • Performing field materials testing of soil, asphalt, concrete, grout, mortar, and other construction materials
    • Preparing detailed and complete field reports with all relevant test results and observations
    • Evaluating site conditions on construction projects and providing recommendations.
    • Communicating with clients, contractors, and engineering and technician staff regarding construction issues

    Qualifications

    What you need to have:

    • ACI Level I Concrete, state DOT, or ICC certifications in soils, structural masonry, and/or pre-stressed concrete required (or ability to obtain immediately from date of hire)
    • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
    • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications 
    • Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written skills)
    • Ability to use basic mathematical formulas and concepts to calculate quantities
    • Attention to detail and organizational skills
    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 70 lbs. on a continual basis in all weather conditions
    • Must be able to successfully manage numerous assignments and meet deadlines
    • Attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Travel will be required
    • Must be willing to participate in and pass F&R’s pre-employment screening including a background investigation, drug screening and driving record
