    Who we are looking for:


    F&R is looking for an in-house Building Inspector to be based out of our Fayetteville, NC location! In this position you will perform complex field testing and inspections of commercial and residential buildings, structures and building systems during the course of construction in order to verify conformance to construction plans and specifications.


    What you’ll be doing:

    Including but not limited to:

    • Responsible for the inspection of commercial/residential buildings, structures and building systems during the course of construction, alteration and repair to ensure compliance with the approved plans, codes, regulations and ordinances
    • Inspecting structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and energy systems for compliance with approved plans and appropriate codes, regulations and ordinances
    • Review commercial/residential plans and specifications for code compliance
    • Using the permit database to document the review status by entering results and information into the building permit database
    • Enforcing State Building Code and ordinances regarding building, zoning and other delegated areas
    • Communicating with clients, contractors, and engineering and technician staff regarding code issues.
    • Maintain records of inspections and action taken
    • Providing general technical assistance
    • Attending pre-construction meetings; attends staff meetings


    What you need to have:

    • Vocational/Technical or Associate degree in building trades, engineering or architectural
    • 6+ years of previous relevant building trades experience required (such as carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, general contracting and or code inspection)
    • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will also be considered
    • Local State Inspector Certifications or ICC Certifications:  Residential or Commercial Building Inspector, Plumbing Inspector, Mechanical Inspector and Electrical Inspector) or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire 
    • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
    • Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written skills)
    • Attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Must be willing to participate in and pass F&R’s pre-employment screening including a background investigation, drug screening and driving record (must be able to work and drive on federal government projects/property)
