    Who we are looking for:


    We are looking for a Director of Metals in our corporate location in Richmond, VA! We are seeking a leader with a background in private sector and governmental construction projects to oversee our in-house Metals Department. As the department leader, you will coordinate the efforts of technicians, special inspectors, and sub-consultants to deliver results that ensure our goal of exceeding our clients’ expectations on every project.


    What you’ll be doing:


    Including, but not limited to:

    • Work closely with local managers to improve efficiency, effectiveness and uniformity of the metals/NDT operations and administration
    • Work with the leadership team to define and execute growth plans
    • Partner with our Safety Director and contribute towards developing a world-class safety program within the company
    • Provide clients with high quality customer services
    • Focus on areas of management needing attention: worker training, use of procedures, project supervision and peer review
    • Monitor the overall quality of project performance and project documentation
    • Responsible for ensuring that adequate staff is assigned to each project/effective utilization of workforce
    • Ensuring complete and adequate record-keeping of employee certification records
    • Overall maintenance and calibration of equipment
    • Assignment and procurement of necessary equipment and other resources to ensure client’s needs are met in a timely and cost effective manner
    • Contribute towards the creation of a transparent work model for both clients and employees
    • Develop and mentor employees to produce effective leaders
    • Stimulate a positive morale within the department and company
    • Promote a positive and respectful culture
    • Execute responsibilities in a lawful and ethical manner


    What you need to have:


    • High School Degree required
    • NDT (non-destructive testing), construction materials and metal testing/inspection experience required
    • CWI certification required
    • NDT (MT, RT, UT, PT), ASNT, or ACCEP Level III Certifications required
    • Some travel is required
    • Experience with Radiation Safety Program desired
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Excellent people and customer service skills
    • Ability to work in an independent or team environment
    • Ability to be self-motivated and performance driven
    • Highly organized individual
    • Valid driver’s license with good-standing driving record
    • Must be willing to participate in and pass F&R’s pre-employment screening including a background investigation, drug screening and driving record
