    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    F&R seeks to fill the position of Corporate Quality Assurance Associate.  This position will report directly to the corporate VP of Quality and Training (VPQT). This critical role will partner with all branches to ensure F&R’s quality programs are supervised and implemented within specifications as set forth by industry and VPQT.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions for this position include:

    • Conduct On-site Quality Audits of each branch’s Quality Management System, laboratory procedures, calibrations, certifications, and other quality-related items on a regular basis, at least annually.
    • Provide detailed and clear written reports of the Quality Audits.
    • Provide one-on-one training to laboratory personnel in conducting laboratory tests in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO or other applicable standards as may be required. Training will normally be on site in the technicians home office and will require travel to the site.
    • Provide verbal and written documentation of training efforts with each laboratory personnel.
    • Read and interpret new ASTM, IBC, AASHTO etc. standards and provide written summaries of common lab procedures that may be used to train and evaluate laboratory personnel.
    • Participate in demonstrations of laboratory procedures that will be filmed and included in training materials.
    • Provide oversight and mentoring in common field procedures to field technicians, particularly in the area of soils and concrete testing and inspections through on-site and other training methods.
    • Perform administrative duties associated with corporate quality and training efforts. These duties include the following:
      • Assist the VPQT in the development of training materials using PowerPoint, Windows, Excel, and other commonly available document production software.
      • Receive emails documenting when technicians in the company have completed online training. Document their training in an excel spreadsheet, and provide notification of completion to each individual technician and their supervisor when they have finished the training successfully.
      • Create and transmit certificates documenting the training to each technician who has successfully completed training, and to their supervisor.
    • Manage, maintain, add information to the corporate certifications database as new certifications are achieved in the company. Manage, maintain, add information to the company equipment calibration database.
    • Aid offices in locating sources for testing materials and equipment.
    • Perform occasional research to gather information on particular topics related to construction materials testing and inspections.

    Qualifications

    • Must be willing and able to travel and stay out of town approximately two workweeks per month.
    • Must be able to safely access and perform testing on active construction sites.
    • Minimum of 5 years performing construction materials laboratory testing. Preference will be given to those candidates with current soils and aggregates laboratory experience.
    • Minimum of 3 years of recent construction materials field technician experience. Concurrent and part-time experience will be considered.  Must include experience and facility in testing soils density using a nuclear density gauge.  Experience within the past 5 years is preferred.
    • Must have Current certifications for soils and aggregate laboratory testing; concrete/masonry certifications will also be considered but soils and aggregate are preferred. Possible certifications include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:
      • ACI
        • Aggregate Testing Technician - Level 1
        • Aggregate Testing Technician - Level 2
        • Aggregate/Soils Base Testing Technician
        • Concrete Strength Testing Technician
        • Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician - Level 1
        • Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician - Level 2
        • Masonry Laboratory Testing Technician
      • WACEL
        • Soils Laboratory Testing Technician
        • Aggregate Laboratory Testing Technician
        • Concrete/Masonry Strength Testing Technician
      • NICET 
        • Soils Level I and II
        • Concrete Level I and II
        • Masonry Level I and II
      • ICC
        • ICC Soils Special Inspector Certification
    • High School Diploma or GED required.  A two-year Associates degree in civil engineering or construction related majors is preferred, but not required.
    • Must be proficient in performing standard laboratory testing procedures in compliance with current ASTM and/or AASHTO standards. Laboratory testing experience in soils, aggregate, concrete and masonry is preferred.
    • Possesses HAZMAT certification for use of a nuclear density gauge, or can achieve this within 3 months of hire.
    • Able to standardize and utilize a nuclear density gauge to test soils in the field.
    • Able to efficiency use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to produce professional quality documents.
    • Able to work independently and reliably without immediate access to supervision.
    • Must be willing and able to communicate with his/her supervisor and with other F&R personnel as job duties require. Must enjoy working with people.
    • Must be able to successfully manage numerous assignments and meet deadlines
    • Requires a valid, clean driver’s license, as travel to job sites is required
    • Must be willing to participate in and pass F&R’s pre-employment screening including a background investigation, drug screening and driving record
    • Must continue to maintain a safe driving record and valid driver’s license to fulfill travel requirements of this positon
