F&R is seeking an Industrial Hygienist for our Raleigh, North Carolina office. The selected candidate will work in a project management or support role conducting hazardous materials assessments (e.g., asbestos, mold, lead, etc.) within an interdisciplinary team of environmental professionals. Primary responsibilities for this position will include: project management, overseeing support staff, preparing proposals and reports, performing site visits, and managing client relationships.  The candidate should have a firm understanding of NC industrial hygiene regulations and have experience performing Hazardous Building Materials Inspections.



Tasks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct mold, indoor air quality, and hazardous materials inspections.
  • Perform asbestos abatement oversight and monitoring within a variety of settings.
  • Write technical reports and proposals pertaining to industrial hygiene services.
  • Coordinate and manage industrial hygiene support staff and projects.
  • Able and willing to interact with existing and potential clients in a confident manner.
  • Provide technical assistance regarding NC industrial hygiene regulations.
  • Participate in occasional overnight travel, night, and/or weekend work.



  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant scientific discipline and at least three years of IH consulting experience.
  • North Carolina Asbestos Inspector Accreditation.
  • North Carolina Asbestos Project Monitor Accreditation strongly preferred.
  • NIOSH 582 course completion and ability to perform Asbestos Fiber Analysis by NIOSH 7400 preferred.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and compliance practices.
  • Proficiency with standard word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Excellent research, writing, organizational, and language skills.
  • Be a team player who is self-motivated and reliable.
  • Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record.
